Fence Planning Ideas

Smart remodeling ideas to transform your yard with the right posts, rails, and pickets.

What you get

  • Posts = ⌈length / spacing⌉ + 1
  • Sections = posts − 1
  • Post length = 1.5 × height
  • Rails, pickets, and footing concrete

Helpful extras

  • Feet, inches, meters, or centimeters
  • 10% buy-margin toggle
  • Optional material pricing
  • Preview, shareable link, and print

How we calculate

  • depth = post ÷ 3
  • Cuboid: 8×w×t×d
  • Round: 2π d² × depth
  • × number of posts

7 ft spacing → 144 posts, 143 sections, 15 ft posts. 4 rails per section → 572 rails. 5″ pickets + 1″ gap → 2,000 pickets. Cuboid 5×4 in → about 29.63 yd³ of concrete.

Plan about 10% more materials for cuts and mistakes. Use the waste slider; “buy” totals include that margin.
