How we calculate

  • net = area − cutouts
  • cols = ⌈(L+g)/(ℓ+g)⌉
  • buy = ⌈base×(1+waste)×pat⌉
  • boxes = ⌈buy / perBox⌉

About 5% for simple rooms, 10% typical, 15%+ for diagonal layouts or lots of cuts. Patterns add their own factor.

Joints reduce coverage per tile. Positive is a gap, zero is a butt joint, and negative is an overlap.
